American Hip Thrust

AMERICAN HIP THRUSTER

The american hip thrust is a hip extension strengthening exercise that is a modification of the BARBELL HIP THRUST. You may use a barbell pad or wrap a towel around the middle of the barbell to provide more comfort during this exercise. Support your mid back with an exercise bench and set up your feet so that they are at least shoulder width apart. Place the barbell along the front of your hip. Prior to lifting the weight be sure to keep the core braced to hold a neutral spine. Lift the pelvis off the ground by driving the heels into the ground and engaging the muscles of the buttock. Lower the hips back down to the ground and repeat as necessary.
