My name is Garrick-Blaine Leyco and I am a Registered Massage Therapist and Fascial Stretch Therapist

About Me.

Growing up I was always surrounded by sports that require mental and physical strength. As a kid I would reenact scenes from comic books with my brothers. As an adult I love martial arts, boxing, racing on the track and archery.

I love the adrenaline.

As a kid my dad and I would always speed down the racetrack with our go karts. It was our favourite family activity and this made me fall in love with driving fast. To this day I still find myself going to the Cayuga race track whenever I have the chance to relive those memories. Whether its in my civic hatchback or on my motorcycle, racing is my oasis.

For me racing isn’t just about the speed. Its about being calm and collected even when things seem to be moving fast. I carry this mentality in my everyday life, especially when I am with my patients.

Mind over matter.

Growing up I've always had a love for superheroes and martial arts. The thought of one day helping people like a superhero excited me. My favourites were Superman, Batman and the Flash because of the courage they displayed when facing the impossible. Recently my inspiration has been the Green Arrow, which is why I picked up archery 7 years ago. I’ve learned to love everything about it.

I love the intricacies involved with good technique. By focusing on your breathing or by slightly repositioning your body you can drastically improve your accuracy. These were things that I was exposed to while I was learning Taekwondo, boxing and karate. Now I apply martial arts principles to my treatment approach to maximize patient outcomes.

By always pushing myself to the limit I knew there was a possibility of injury.

Why I became a Massage Therapist

  • Growing Pains.

Before becoming a RMT, my body had endured many injuries including a debilitating strained back, a torn LCL, and a torn TFCC. Luckily I’ve been fortunate enough to have health care providers give me the care that I needed. By going through the recovery process I began to ask "how is this possible and what else can the body do?". Seeking to answer this question, I did my research and decided that I wanted to help others through massage therapy.

  • Enlightenment.

As my interest grew, I enrolled into the massage therapy program at ICT Kikkawa College. I loved every bit of it. There I learned techniques that specialize in sports and deep tissue massage. After experiencing the gratitude of helping people relieve their pain, I realized that I need to do this for the rest of my life.

  • Philosophy.

As an RMT, my goal is to target your injury and to reduce pain and improve recovery. I do this by constantly learning and by applying new knowledge immediately. As a true believer of "If you can take it, you can make it", I incorporate this mindset to the recovery process with my patients to get them the results they need.

  • Impetus.

As an RMT, my true purpose is to help people and I couldn't think of a better way than through manual therapy, education and rehabilitation.
