Hello my name is Jocelyn, and I am a physiotherapy resident
Who is Jocelyn?
-
The beginning
Growing up, I was always drawn to sports, trying out everything I could get my hands on. But it wasn’t until I discovered Ultimate Frisbee in my first
year of undergrad at Western University that I truly understood what it meant to devote yourself to a single sport. Ultimate quickly became my
passion, driving me to commit countless hours to training and improving my fitness, strategy, and technical skills. Starting on the Varsity team at Western, I continued to hone my skills, eventually becoming the captain of the team at the University of Toronto, and now competing with Canada’s top women’s team, proudly representing Canada in various international tournaments. However, years of competing also meant dealing with my own fair share of injuries. From ankle sprains to muscle strains to concussions, the physiotherapists who treated me helped me not only heal from my
injuries, but with their treatment, care, and encouragement, I was able to
return to the field stronger than before. -
The journey
Inspired by my passion for sports and the care I received as a patient, I
pursued my Master’s of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.
Balancing the demands of competitive frisbee and academics was
challenging, but it taught me the value of dedication and discipline.
Competing throughout my studies, especially as a team captain, allowed me to grow both as a leader and a team player. I learned how to motivate and support others while maintaining focus on my own development. These
experiences gave me a deep understanding of the physical and mental challenges athletes face, strengthening my commitment to helping others overcome setbacks and achieve their goals -
The goal
I have witnessed firsthand the incredible resilience of the human body to overcome injury and trauma when given the right care and support. This belief fuels my approach as a physiotherapist, combining evidence-based practice with empathy, collaboration, and a deep understanding of each patient’s unique journey. Using a combination of manual therapy, movement analysis, and personalized education, I strive to uncover the root causes of discomfort or dysfunction and create tailored strategies to help you achieve your goals. Whether it’s returning to sport, recovering from injury, or simply feeling confident in your daily movements, I’m here to support you every step of the way. My aim is not just to help you return to your usual activities, but to empower you to build healthy, sustainable habits that will support your long-term wellbeing. Together, we’ll work to optimize your movement, enhance your strength, and ensure you can get back to doing what you love with confidence and ease. I’m excited to be part
of your journey!
