Hi, my name is Tuan Huynh and I’m a physiotherapist.
My journey.
-
The beginning.
Originally from Toronto, I graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical and Health Physics. While I loved physics, being a dancer and a martial artist, I felt I needed a career that involved the passion I felt for movement and physicality. After deciding on a career change with renewed enthusiasm, I went on to receive my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York.
-
The experience.
I have had the opportunity to work in a large variety of facilities across the US in New York, California, and Oregon, as well as Toronto. In doing so, I’ve gained a wealth knowledge and clinical experience working with a wide breadth of conditions including orthopedic, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological conditions, and chronic pain.
-
The difference.
I have been very involved in breakdancing and martial arts throughout most of my life, allowing me to gain insight into, often unconventional, movements of the human body. As a board certified Orthopedic Specialist physiotherapist, I can direct this passion for movement culture, fitness, and health toward helping you recover and perform at your best, while protecting yourself from future injury.
-
My approach.
My treatment approach uses an individualized combination of manual therapy and therapeutic exercises with strong emphasis on activity and movement to restore strength, range, and function to patients so they can continue perform at their best. I also believe in a strong education component to any treatment plan to help you understand the “how” and “why” of your condition and to prevent recurrence of injuries.
-
My growth.
With a special interest in dance, I’ve taken several continuing education courses from The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries to improve my ability to work with this population. I’ve also taken continuing education courses to further advance my skills in manual therapy, exercise prescription, and pain management.
-
My passion.
When I’m not working, I like to stay active by training in martial arts, breakdance, Latin dance, and strength training. I also enjoy music and gaming.
